Antique Blue French Opaline Egg on Gilt Stand

A sky blue opaline translucent glass egg cradled in an ornate gilt metal wire stand worked as a sheaf of wheat, with leaves, buds, and a small flower at the crown. A metal collar rings the center of the egg. The satiny blue glass and fine gilt openwork make it a romantic shelf or vanity piece.
